Businessman Ruslan Shostak Congratulated Dnipro Residents on City Day

Ruslan Shostak, President of TERWIN Corporation, founder, and co-owner of the EVA and VARUS retail chains, congratulated his hometown of Dnipro and its residents on City Day.

Dnipro City Day is traditionally celebrated on the second Saturday of September. This year, the city turned 248 years old. Ruslan Shostak shared warm memories of his hometown:

"Dnipro. The city of my childhood, youth, and adulthood. My city. The city of my ancestors, my family, and my children. The city of all my firsts—first steps, first falls, first love, first failures, first money, and first purchases. Everything here holds meaning for me: I met friends at this café, walked with my parents in this park, and watched my son ride his bike for the first time here. I opened the first EVA store in a building on K. Marksa Street, and the first VARUS on Topolya.

How I wish to see our Dnipro as a thriving industrial capital of Ukraine, for no other city in Ukraine has such potential. Here lies the heart of metallurgy, machine building, defense, and space industries. In 30 years of independence, Dnipro could have been transformed into a Ukrainian Dubai, turning it into a center of innovation and modern technology. Dnipro has always been the hub of the 'Varangians to Greeks' trade route, the heart of Cossack history, railways, religion, and commerce.

Unfortunately, today Dnipro is a target for the enemy, just like all of Ukraine. Recently, I passed by a bus stop where an enemy explosion claimed many lives, including children's. Almost two years have passed, but the toys left by people still serve as a reminder of the tragedy. This stop is a symbol of today's Dnipro, which has united and stood strong against the enemy.
