Ruslan Shostak, President of the TERWIN Corporation and co-founder of the EVA and VARUS retail chains, spoke at the Lviv Invest Forum, where he outlined specific steps for developing Ukrainian business and the national economy.
On August 29–30, one of the largest investment forums took place in Lviv, bringing together leading experts, high-potential projects, and investors seeking new opportunities, partnerships, and directions for capital investment. The event gathered over 1,000 visitors daily and featured more than 35 speakers.
The forum opened with a speech by Ruslan Shostak, President of TERWIN. During his address, he emphasized that Ukraine must become a country of corporations, not just small private enterprises (FOPs) — this is where our strength and competitiveness in the global market lie.
“Only an economically strong state can be truly independent, with a powerful army and a reliable security system. Business — and business again — can make Ukraine strong and prosperous economically. It creates jobs and fills the state budget. Developing a robust economic environment is a key national priority. Let’s make Ukraine strong together. We are all invested in this result — there is no other way,”
— said Ruslan Shostak, President of TERWIN.
According to Shostak, Ukraine can follow Poland’s path and has all the necessary resources: human and technological potential, geographic advantages, and a drive for development. Poland began 20 years ago with a GDP of $142 billion and today approaches $1 trillion. Ukraine’s current GDP is $195 billion, and over the next 10–15 years, it has every chance to reach the $1 trillion mark — provided the industrial sectors are developed strategically and effectively.
Recently, Ruslan Shostak was appointed Head of the Retail and Logistics Group within the Business Council under the President of Ukraine. There, he represents the interests of Ukrainian business, aiming to remove obstacles to growth — such as the shadow economy, excessive regulation, and the absence of war-risk insurance — and to create conditions for sustainable development.
