The media platform Megogo has released Save Generation Ua, a documentary film about the largest evacuation of orphans since World War II.

At the onset of the full-scale war, the Childhood Without War project evacuated 3,500 orphans from dangerous communities in Ukraine to Turkey. The initiative was carried out by the Ruslan Shostak Charitable Foundation, which is part of the TERWIN corporation. The children remained in evacuation in Turkey for 1,000 days.

The film tells the stories of these Ukrainian orphans. Save Generation Ua has received seven international awards across five countries, including the Luleå International Film Festival, the İstanbul International Spring Film Festival, and the Washington West Film Festival in the U.S.

Childhood Without War remains the only example of an organized evacuation of orphans, children deprived of parental care, and children from families facing difficult life circumstances.

“We are proud to present Save Generation Ua to Ukrainian audiences. It shows how the largest private evacuation of children during the full-scale war unfolded. The film tells this story both from the children’s perspective and the team’s — a unique experience we want to share. Our foundation was the only one to take on the function of evacuating and sheltering children in a safe place. We hope the film draws attention to the issue of orphanhood in Ukraine and the urgent need to address it. Together with the State Service for Children, we are already beginning this work and will soon present a new project to ensure every Ukrainian child can grow up in a family environment,” said Yevheniia But, CEO of the Ruslan Shostak Charitable Foundation.

Minimal Movie produced the film. Roman Blazhan directed and produced it. Oleksandr Dobrev and Valeriia Mazur were the cinematographers. Line producer was Olena Zubarieva.

About the Childhood Without War Project

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ruslan Shostak and his partners organized the largest evacuation of orphans and their guardians from Ukraine to Turkey. This was made possible through an agreement between the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, and the First Lady of the Republic of Turkey, Emine Erdoğan. A total of 3,500 orphans, their guardians, children deprived of parental care, and children from families in difficult life circumstances found shelter in the Republic of Turkey.
