Ruslan Shostak, President of TERWIN Corporation and founder of the EVA and VARUS retail chains, has been appointed head of the newly established Retail and Logistics Group of the Business Council under the President of Ukraine, the company’s press service reports.
The new Group is intended to serve as a platform for developing solutions that will help business become a driving force in Ukraine’s economic recovery and growth.
According to Shostak, the work of the Business Council is conducted at an exceptionally dynamic pace — from meetings with the heads of leading companies to dialogues with Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
“For the first time in Ukraine’s history, I see a genuine format of partnership: business is not only being heard but is also directly involved in finding solutions to the key challenges facing our economy. Finally, there is a clear understanding at the highest level that Ukraine’s budget is filled solely thanks to Ukrainian business. And how effective we are will determine not only the development of our companies but also the future of the country,”
— said Shostak, as quoted in the press release.
He also emphasized that in a country where business and the state act as allies, ultimately all citizens benefit.
The release notes that in the fields of retail and logistics, several strategically important priorities have already been identified:
-
Business de-shadowing,
-
Creation of an effective migration policy to encourage Ukrainians to return from abroad,
-
Introduction of war-risk insurance mechanisms and investment security guarantees.
Another important initiative is the creation of an independent business protection body under the President — or a business association — that would review corporate and regulatory cases, coordinate business defense against unlawful actions by state authorities, and facilitate transparent dispute resolution.
As reported, the Presidential Decree approved a list of 82 members of the Business Support Council.
In addition to entrepreneurs, the Council includes Andriy Yermak, Head of the President’s Office; Yuliia Svyrydenko, Prime Minister; Roman Vashchuk, Business Ombudsman; and the Council’s Secretary — Yurii Katsion, Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office.
