Leadership is the cornerstone for Ukraine — the foundation that holds the country, business, and society: Ruslan Shostak at the “Days of Ideas” forum
Ruslan Shostak, President of TERWIN Corporation and co-founder and co-owner of the EVA and VARUS retail chains, took part in the “Days of Ideas” forum, where he shared his vision of leadership in turbulent times.
The businessman moderated a panel discussion titled “Leadership in Times of Uncertainty,” featuring Kateryna Osadcha, Artem Romanyukov, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, and Mykola Kabluka. The participants discussed how to build realistic strategies amid constant change, maintain focus, integrity, resilience, and a moral compass in extremely challenging circumstances.
According to Ruslan Shostak, it is leaders who embody stability in difficult times — those people others can rely on. These can be soldiers, volunteers, entrepreneurs, and businesses — anyone who doesn’t wait for the perfect moment but takes action.
“What’s essential for a leader? To see reality as it is. To plan and think strategically — even when the planning horizon is just three days. You need to be able to see a bit further. Don’t ignore danger and risks, even when you don’t want to think about them. And always have a Plan B. Because it’s better to exhale in relief when the pessimistic scenario doesn’t come true than to be unprepared when it does,” shared Ruslan Shostak, President of TERWIN Corporation.
The businessman emphasized that a strong leader is not the one who knows what will happen tomorrow, but the one who is prepared for different versions of “tomorrow” — and can keep the course, the team, and the business steady even through a storm.
