The VARUS supermarket chain has become the first in Ukraine to introduce an automatic loyalty system powered by LoyaltyAI technology and integrated with monobank. Now, customers receive bonuses instantly when paying with their card — no need to scan loyalty cards or take any additional actions.
The system works simply: a shopper pays with a monobank card at VARUS, and LoyaltyAI automatically recognizes the customer and adds loyalty points. After the first purchase, the customer receives a notification in the monobank app offering to connect to the loyalty program with a single tap.
The new technology significantly speeds up checkout. According to experts, automatic identification saves up to 4 hours of cashier time per register each month. Cashiers no longer need to scan loyalty cards or ask for phone numbers.
Customers also gain access to digital receipts directly in the monobank app, where they can review purchase details and leave service feedback. A dedicated loyalty section in the app allows users to join the VARUS program at any convenient moment.
“Thanks to integration with monobank, the percentage of identified transactions has reached record levels. This also enables VARUS to automatically update its customer database and opens up new opportunities for personalized marketing. The system integrated smoothly with our CRM without major technical changes,”
— said Anna Luhanska, Marketing Director of the VARUS chain.
The results are already impressive: 45.76% of all monobank card purchases are now linked to the VARUS loyalty program, and 22.44% of cashless transactions generate digital receipts in the bank’s app. This means that almost every second payment with a monobank card automatically connects to the supermarket’s bonus program.
“The new era of loyalty is not about cards or QR codes — it’s about meeting the customer where they are and delivering personalized benefits effortlessly,”
— commented LoyaltyAI representatives.
According to forecasts, if current growth trends continue, the share of identified purchases could increase by another 20–30% by the end of the year.
